Re: Hey - PLEASE IGNORE/DELETE PREVIOUS EMAIL

Hi
It seems that some pesky people from the below website have managed to send a cheeky email from my account.
Please ignore this junk, if you haven't already, and accept my sincere apologies for this intrusion into your inboxes.

I am, of course going to change (all of) my email password(s), and will be reporting the website to the US Federal Trade Commission (website is based in Dallas).

Good day to you all, and happy summer.

Nick.

Continued story lines.

I have now begun to piece together the narrative that will run throughout the whole virtual-virtual gallery(the V-V-Gallery is the idea of An online Gallery presenting my work being visualized as a series of rooms, as if a Virtual virtual gallery.)
I now want the user to gradually unravel a story, a story of a haunted house. Not necessarily by ghosts, perhaps by living people, or things. I am still unsure of the total outcome of this, but I know that I want it to be an interactive, multi-layered story. Like a book, a novel or a short story, but not told only with text, but through movements as well. Somewhere in between animation, theatre and writing.
i am iming to create a room facing the outdoors; and in this room things can come in, or fall out with teh wind. And if somthing needs to happen in a room it can, and will, and will be placed along with text.
More soon..

Surrealism and Research

The rooms are vecoming increasingly surreal.I have added a falling room,(only online in part, at the moment) accessable from a small door in room one, and from this room, the user 'falls'; eventually hitting the bottom, but along the way can click on a number of elements, such as a Window(this one works right now), taking the user to a strange sky-room, eventully falling back into the hall.
From this new sense of surrealsim, two things have arisen.
1. It is now becoming easier for me to imagine a narrative, a surreal world, perhaps somthing like a haunted house in which my rooms are located. i already have planned more surreal rooms, like a room open to the elements; a missing wall exposed to the outside.
2. the Exclusion of the figure walking around has both aided the Surrealist illision, almost giving the user oppurtunity to float around the rooms and makes the rooms easier for me to create, escpecially when creating the surrealer rooms.

RESEARCH
I have now three books, Poetics of Space, Perspective and a Perspective DEsiogn Handbook. i have not yet begun to read Poetics, but have studied with this book before. The Vredeman De Vries book is especially usefull at this design stage, helping me to assemble the increasingly surreal world od ROOMS. I am hoping that with this research, as well as an ongoing attempt to atain more will provide me with the basis in which to place my work in a variety of contexts; not just the context of the internet as a whole.

New ideas New Ideas

Somthing that is very impotant for this project is the research i am conducting at the moment, and for me, at pressent a process of 'crawling' the web
finding pages and sites and web-art objects that enable me, somehow to place my work within the context of Web art in general. I will be assembling all of those links here soon, but in this entry, as well as talking breifly about the process and reasons for this desire to locate my work, i want to present "99ROOMS" which is a project i foud while trying to narrow this 'wider context' into finding a project similar to my  'Rooms'
This project is different from mine in that alot more photograhic work is used, but the simalarities are there, too. users navigate in a very similar way, opening doors with the click of a button to advance to the room on the other side.
it seems the task my work can form that will be significantly different from thsi wil eb to combine the 'virtual bulinding' enviroment with the popular 'virtual gallrey'   .
My work will enble users to navigate the rooms and discover embedded art objects, with the possibility of them being seperate to the room, as well as being an integral part of it. I think the major advantage of my piece will be the versitility and variety of each room- I will be able to create art-objects that are static(in the sense that they do not move from thhier position on the screen) and viewable with or without the room that just sit on the back wall, as well as objects that will be an integral part of the room, created for the room(or the room created around the object) These objects will interact with the room directly.

I feel it is important to locate the work among internet art and even internet sites as a whole because it is important for me to realise that the context of the internet is very different from more conventional presention contexts such as galleries and books, even different from Media such asTv,  video or Raido.
The internet exists on both a physical end-level with users sat at a computer but at a 'meta-physical' level, too- an intracte network of wires and satalittes and machines and servers and ISPs and ISP workers.- a network of billions of physical parts. The internet also has a unique quality in being interactive, and to an extent yet unrealised by digital television.
users can directly influence, in real time, internet pages and sites and everone can instanly add themselves to the huge 'web' of pages and sites. I would be interested to know how many new pages are crated everyday.. worth finding out...

But in this unique, constanly expanding world, things are different. Vision, sound, text, time, duration and interaction and many things that can only exist TOGETHER on the internet allow both users and creators to jump into a 'new dimension' where space can be infinate, time can be stretched, sound nd vision can collide and input can truly exist.

This project is very much in it's infancy, and the naviagtion is uncomplete, and the content mostly non-existent in the Rooms format. Work will be added to the existing rooms, and subsequently more rooms will grow. the 3 rooms that exist at present represent the shell of future rooms and are for illistartion purposes mainly. Please Email me and tell me what you think. Email me at: bob4jane@Gmail.com.

Mapping

I have now begun mapping the future site, and have bought a domain name upon whihc i
shall sit the site; which for the time being will be hosted by Dartington.ac.uk- more
specifically the Contexture pages that host http;//Contexture05.com.
nicholasmoore.co.uk for the time being only directs to a small offering of myslef but will
grow as i and this blog does into the home for a project currently being mapped.
i will create an online Gallery, navigatable, perhaps Nightmare(classic 90s TV show) like(if
i have the time to animate a walking character) users will be able to move around 10
rooms, (maybe more.. again if i have the time!) and in each room will be faced with a
virtual work of my own art- be it a movie playing on the back wall, a photo, a poem, a
virtual-text.. anyting. Running through all the rooms will be n extended narrative, and
using Macromedia Flash, I should be able to produce a number of elements, both user
activated and time-based that reveal parts of this narrative.
Along side this i will be continuing the ongoing process of updating my online presence and
portfolio.

My CAP projects will be inclusive of my work towards a web portfolio, my work as a Web designer for Contexture05.com and Presence2005.org as well as the creative process of this gallery project, still without a name at this point... more on that SOOOOONNNN!!!

N.
below is a plan of what i have so far.
